The First Day of the Pamkit Festival
The 1st of December is the first official day of the annual Pamkit Festival at Thung Sri Mueang in central Udon. Parking was a real 'mare, but we managed to find a spot eventually. We were there to witness the dragon parade, and then strolled around the stalls to see what was on offer.
The multicoloured dragons are getting set for the parade.
Several teams of dancing girls entertained the spectators.
Office of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (huh!) had an information stall on site....
as did the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
Stalls selling shoes...
and stalls selling tableware
and rabbits!
And the obligatory food vendors.
A small 'Big Wheel' for the kids.
Win a cuddly toy by bursting balloons with darts...
or playing bingo!
Deva (who he?) were displaying their latest trucks,
and Yanmar (who mar?) their tractors.
Outside on the street you could buy herbal remedies...
or any number of flowers and trees.
Overall we had a very pleasant day. In the evenings there are live bands playing every night, click here to see our article about who's performing when.
