Every year since 1932 Thailand commemorates the establishment of the Chakri Dynasty and the founding of Bangkok by King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke in 1782. Chakri Day is an official holiday, so Banks and government offices are closed.

Songkran in Thailand

Songkran (วันสงกรานต์)

The Thai new year is celebrated each year on the 13th to the 15th of April. Generally alcohol flows freely and the streets are awash with water. On these days, government offices and banks are closed.
